Chainlink is chain agnostic. It’s very nature will allow it to launch on whatever chain is fastest as its operational layer.

Not to even begin talking about threshold signatures, which will allow bundling of large numbers of transactions at a much lower TPS.

Am I smart enough to know the details on how all this works? Absolutely not, and never claimed I was, I am however smart enough to read what people smarter than me write and digest their meaning and intention.

LINK will be as fast (actually faster/more efficient via TSIGS) as whatever chain de jour is the defacto transfer layer acceptable by major institutions for reliability.
