We have 5 kids, so i need something that seats 7 to seat our whole family. Will dealer let us “exchange” for one that does?

We THOUGHT it seated 7. It has 2 front captain seats in the front row, 2 captain seats in the second row, 2 seats in a bench configuration in the third row. We wrongly assumed the bench in the third row sat 3. .

In my defense - I’ve never seen a bench that only sat 2, so I didn’t really think about it. And i was preoccupied with keeping the kids under control as well as making sure I got the beige interior and the black exterior and the 2.0 turbo engine rather than the more expensive gas guzzling V6.

They make the same exact SUV as the one I got but with 2 captain in the front, a bench that seats THREE in the middle, and a bench that seats 2 in the back. It’s in a town in the neighboring state about 5 hours from the dealer I bought from yesterday. So it wouldn’t be too much of a problem to get it to the dealer we did business with yesterday. (Texas brings vehicles here all the time.)

But My husband says they probably won’t help us out & let us “exchange” it since the one we want/need is $2,000 cheaper. Of course we wouldn’t expect them to deduct 2,000 after completing the sale, but wouldn’t they make an even exchange? The vehicle I’d be “returning” is actually worth 2,000 dollars more than the vehicle I want. (The captain seats are a 2,000 upgrade from the bench seats & I’d be giving them captain seats in exchange for bench seats that I already paid 2,000 extra for.) So in the end, they would probably profit 3,000 dollars if you deduct 1,000 dollars for the paperwork and “hassle”/time to make the exchange, right?
