I have a research stipend that I will receive over the summer. It will be treated as taxable income. I'm getting conflicting information as if I can invest this into an IRA, as they aren't counted as wages and I probably won't get a W-2.

I just want to know if I can do this. It seems to be the case since the SECURE Act passed in 2019.

How does this happen? How are they not constantly doing everything possible to get pay this off? I used to think for the longest time that they were financially responsible, that I could count on them, but between this and finding out my dad might owe upwards of $100k in unpaid taxes, AND that we've missed our home payment for the past few months, I'm beginning to think it's just over.

That's it. My life is done. I was born to lazy debt slaves and I now have to incur their losses. I will never have anything, no wife, no home, no stable job, no nothing. So what the fuck do I do? My dad doesn't even work anymore, my mom won't stop spending like a retard, and here I am, stuck with their mistakes. Should I just rope and save myself the headache?

If I spend my entire gross income on business expenses today. Will that defer any money I owe to the IRS for an entire year?
