Here's a little infographic showing which stages of the disease various NASH companies are aiming to treat
Notice how there are only 3 companies in the final, most severe stage

They are

>GILD (failed phase 3 clinical trials yesterday)
>CNAT (recently failed phase 2 clinical trials, partnered with Novartis)
>GALT (has been approved for phase 3 clinical trials)

GALT is the last company left standing in this particular niche of the NASH market
Early stage NASH caused by metabolic dysregulation can be treated with diet and exercise, drugs aren't necessary at this stage
Severe, late stage NASH cirrhosis is where treatment is most needed, and it's clear that there's only one option left that's both safe and effective
