Germans take their cash, go to the boomer bank, invest in something like "DEKA 60A", which is the risky 60% boomer stocks and 40% bonds managed fund and pay 50% of the profit to their bank.
Its the weird synergy of a complete distrust in the world and banks, and a complete trust in that nice guy in a suit in the bank, that "knows whats best" for your money. Banks rob people blind but help you manage your money.
