Aye, there are two versions of Bitcoin, Bitcoin (BCH) and Bitcoin (BTC). One of them got to keep the old ticker.

Both have their own idea for how to scale Bitcoin. Personally I think BCH's solution will win since simplicity usually beats complexity.

Why is what?

BCH is the continuation of bitcoin chain as it existed for the first 9 years before blockstream crippled it. It is P2P electronic cash exactly as outlined in the bitcoin white paper. With no block limit that artificially restrains the network, it is free to scale towards mass adoption. As more BTC holders realize they have been scammed by the blockstream propaganda army, money and miners will flow from BTC to BCH until the tipping point is reached and the segwit chain, which is a dead end project, will wither and die with no hash rate to support it. It will happen in 2018, and probably much sooner than people realize. Act fast or stay poor. Doesn't matter to me.

you can for example store "hello" on the blockchain, or you can store "i hate niggers". nobody will be able to remove it and it will be there forever.

you can also store illegal stuff like child porn jpgs or magnet links for torrents (think uncensorable piratebay).

it will cost you 1 satoshi per byte however, which means around 500 satoshis if you want to store the full 220 bytes of data.
