Erc-677 doesn't matter now that Link is Chain Agnostic. A stable token like USDC or similar will be used. The primary focus of the link token was for fundraising.

Sorry, but in the big scheme of things its the only way for real legel oracle collateral to meet regulatory compliance and that's to transition to a stable currency. As you already know most of link is going to be handled off chain with threshold sigs and mixicles.
