It’s actually very very simple.

There’s two curves, one plots the average person’s standard of living over time, the other plots the standard of living of a person in the metaverse.

Real life standards of living are dropping over time, metaverse technology is improving exponentially over time. At some point the curves will intersect and people that spend time in the metaverse will enjoy life more there than their “real” life, it will feel more real, they will have the things they want in need, scarcity won’t exist.

At this point in time, they won’t want to leave the metaverse. They will opt to be hooked up to machines that keep their physical body alive and they will spend the rest of their life in the metaverse.
