The context for the situation was contracts for Crude oil and USO. USO deals with contracts. USO already sold their May contracts well before the catastrophe, and the only real way for it to die is if June contracts go negative by early May. I will take that bet because there will be unprecedented action to save the oil industry as a whole. We can always buy more and make more reserves, and desu in case the worst does happen I got plenty of tanker stock as a bit of a hedge just in case. But the actual price of the commodity does not matter to a company that trades and deals with the speculative price. Actual price will go up because our government won't let it fail, and speculative price will hold afloat because people think this is true even if it isn't.
