By 2008, it was Exxon again (by then merged with Mobile). Bass that made people deaf in the 90s or 00s will still make people deaf in 2015. Same goes for the rest of the music (so not only the bass). Sure you won't get neat features like network streaming or less line in inputs or even ones that don't match your device (e.g. the amp has "CD" instead "AUX" as a label on the front) but that won't influence the sound itself in any bad way.
