Like the other anon said I think its cutesiness and meme value is exactly why it has good potential. I can see it becoming a go-to method of payment particularly in gaming circles, certain retailers etc. It's also gaining more and more popularity and exposure with each pump that happens, so it'll have the benefit of being a recognisable name like Bitcoin did a few years ago. When you ask the average person for examples of cryptocurrencies, they'll tell you "Bitcoin" first and then "dogecoin".

It's survived for many years already with the reputation of "haha funny meme coin I can gift to my friends for the lulz" and I think it'll survive many more this way.

But the reason I've just sold half of what I have right now is because I think the point where it actually skyrockets is probably a few months away (at least). It got a lot of good exposure in this pump but there's still a bit more to go. I think we'll start seeing more online retailers adopting it as a method of payment in the coming months as well as see it be listed on more cryptocurrency exchanges.
