>it's not hard to get ancient fondlers so you should buy a few and see how they suit you.
Don't tempt me. I really gotta cut down on my spending.
Guess I can always hope for a fondling nugget (or maybe an ancient coin, I've found some pre WWII coin (left) and that thing on the right. I'm pretty sure it's a coin, but fuck me if I know what coin) in my panning endeavors.

Can't help you much on judging the value, but that's a neat mix.

>I know patina can be a good thing, but here it's a bit much, looks like it was baked in shit..
Pfff… they're sparkly clean!
Just look at this stuff I got here!
(Gonna post a "cleaned" shot later)

Since this is now coin cleaning general:
Any idea what I could do to these things?
Found them panning in my river. One is magnetic and the other has some greenish (Cu) stuff going on, but seems rusty + encrusted.
Doesn't look like any recent coins I know, so it's probably rather old (50yo+) and thus has been in the water rather long.
Don't really care about value, but would love to figure out what they are.

I guess it's like with about anything:
Good equipment > mediocre equipment >> bad equipment
but
Skills >> equipment
Anyways, here's some ratty ass coins I panned a while ago, before I'm off to work.

…I mean sure, that's not a bad return, looking at the percentages, but holy shit, please be trolling!
Otherwise you're quite delusional.
3x of one penny is still only three pennies. If you wanna make minimum wage (what's that i nthe US, like $5?), you need to find 250 copper pennies per hour!
If you enjoy sorting pennies and treat this as a hobby, fine! Whatever gloats your moat, but don't pretend you're beating the stock market.
Pic semi related. My old coin finds.

>Yeah, it's not for pussies afraid of getting wet and dirty though. Pic is an example of some of the stuff sifted from storm sewers, the 2 gold rings (1 broken) were found within minutes of eachother. For jewelry normally it's rings, earrings and pendants that turn up. The silver gets a bit eaten up by the caustic conditions but is more common than jewelry in old storm drains.
Damn!
I really gotta figure out where the (old, nowadays everything should go to the WWTP) storm drains into the river are. Could try to combine gold panning with coin finding.
Actually I got two coins panning. Spot's downstream of some old river ferry, so that seems like a good spot, but mostly, it's just rusty nails and random metallic stuff.
Wasn't there some discussion about identifiying and cleaning coins like 3 threads back?
The left one is magnetic, the right one isn't and has the telltale green copper oxidation.
Left one could have some bushel or eagle on it with text around it, right one has a cross with text.
