it was actually started by noted /xsg/ schizo Wo Jake who in my opinion is one of the most competent developer-advocates in the XRPL community. he called it the Hooks Sidechain (it's why all the XRPL twitter accounts have hook emojis in their handle) the fact that Wietse and Wo Jake are running this thing makes it much more trustworthy in my opinion.

i know some of you guys are monitoring this thread i just want you to know that i'm having a meeting with developers from a few trustworthy projects this weekend to talk about how we can start to build cool dApps on your sidechain, i believe in you and your project and will do whatever i can to support it in the early stages. we're making our own sidechain and it will 100% be interoperable with Hooks sidechain/Xahau and mainnet. It's exciting, this is the beginning of the XRPL turning into a network (i mean it already is, it's just that most of the private permissioned sidechain forks are being run by banks and corporations- this is the beginning of the retail side)

IMO getting in on the ground floor is a win-win because it will help make the network stronger and drive early adoption while also driving traffic (and $$) to early devs.

the only thing i question is whether it would pay off to wait a few months because the market is at such a low ebb presently. but on the other hand, no time like the present- the best time to plant a tree is yesterday, and so on.

btw i think we can build some connections to projects on Cosmos via inter-blockchain communication protocol, idk if you guys have looked into that yet but it's pretty promising.

the EVM sidechain is also going to be a valuable bridge. i view these things as channels or conduits through which value ($$ and developers) can start to flow into the XRPL world.
