That rule of thumb probably dates back to a time when 30k was considered a decent salary, and the average home was only 80k. The real estate market is ridiculous, and the banks are getting insanely liberal with credit.

His point is kinda valid though. Stores are more expensive and people who smoke weed are gonna smoke regardless of whether or not they got it legally. If I was a pothead, I wouldn't give up my 2nd amendment rights just for the privilege of paying an extra 15 dollars for an eighth.
