Suppose inflation is 20% and your favored sector escapes the market totally eating shit by being up 10%. Well, you lost 10% of your money.

Now if you had a 3x sector ETF (or calls/LEAPS such that your exposure to certain stocks is 3x'd), you finish the year up 30%. A 10% gain in real terms.

Not exactly stocks, but when the 10 year is quoted at 137.55 or whatever, how do you calculate the yield from that?

So basically, everybody is poor, stuck at home and trying to save, so velocity has plummeted, and inflation isn't seen even though many trillions have been printed. If/when they print enough that people do start spending (and/or the vaccine helps with that) you'll see sudden inflation as the money finally makes its way into the economy. Have I got that right?

Why doesn't some billionaire just buy up all the oil until it's $100 a barrel then sell and make a fortune?
