Why would you be fucked? If you analyse the US dollar like a cryptocurrency you would conclude it is a shitcoin that only a moron would invest in.

Gold and silver have been real money since the beginning of history and is a safe haven asset against currency collapses and depressions. Furthermore, we're living in a unique economic scenario as we have "paper gold" and "paper silver" artificially lowering the price by staggering amounts, which when the scheme inevitably collapses (along with the US dollar too, for that matter), the holders of physical gold/silver could see truly astronomical gains.

I don't like to make specific price predictions, but if you see an outright currency collapse there is nothing unreasonable about seeing silver selling upwards of $1000 an ounce (current dollar valuation) as everyone in the world sells everything they have for pennies on the dollar just trying to prevent themselves from being left with nothing but glorified toilet paper.

Even ignoring the above scenario, that shouldn't stop you from making reasonable calculations about what your projection is for the USD compared to what your projections are for precious metals (even sans mooning event).

In my personal opinion, if you can afford it without harming yourself financially, strive to own 1 ounce of gold and between 50-100 ounces of silver. That's not going to set you back a ruinous amount, and even if everything I said is wrong you can larp that you own pirate treasure and you'll at least have enough non-cash, liquid assets that you could feed yourself for a year in case of a depression.
