My sister is going off to college and my grandmother just retired. I asked them if they wanted to toss $200 each my way and in return I'd use the cash to buy them a stock that'll either fizzle out and make them lose about $50 or make them enough to get by comfortably for a very long time. I'm not heartless, but I'm also not running a charity. If they want great gains they need to take the first step themselves. I asked my dad if he wanted to join in but he mocked me for even trying to get any gains. I told him there's a reason he's unemployed and still pays rent at 45 years old.
