build new houses close to city centers => less inventory to new houses that people exclusively want to purchase no drop in price since there is so little good offerings compared to demand

While you are right culturally europe is way more socialistic, Usa is ranked #14 in living standard and purchasing power isnt much better either, altought some country side areas it seems purchasing power is much better than in most of europe, perhaps switzerland is a exception.
