If you look at a graph of USD value, it has long ago entered the asymptote. It's past the event horizon. The smallest devaluation further can destabilize the knife's edge this economy is carefully managed atop of sending everything into a hyperinflationary spiral. It's similar to how a liquid like water can be supercooled or superheated beyond the point it would normally freeze or boil but remain in it's current state. That's where we are now, in an artificially maintained stasis, waiting for a sufficient catalyst to instigate change and bring things back to a lower more stable state.
