Why not? Can you justify it or is it just a dogma?
I understand Satoshi used PoW to fulfill both purposes. But why not abstract away network security with distribution if it's possible?
Do BTC miners do their work for network security or consensus? For 0xbtc these factors are non-issue. 51% attack means nothing and centralization won't be an issue as long as SHA3Solidity algorithm isn't broken

Not to mention a lot of interesting use cases can be developed due to it's ERC-20 nature.
I know I'm the one who asked this question but I think you haven't think through yet.
