It's probably the pack animal part of the brain. It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, given that most people are NPCs who can't be trusted to keep themselves alive and out of destitution without supervision. They fall in line and obey authority pretty unquestionably, and someone who could heard those sheep to be useful would be welcome. The problem is that there isn't a leader worth following in this day and age. Everyone in a position to lead are corrupt greedy backhanded faggots who would shirk and run like pussies at the slightest danger.

If we ever got a true leader, a man who held justice in his heart, and seeks only greatness and prosperity for him and his people. Someone who saw darkness and wished to destroy it rather than ignore or indulge in it. That man would be able to rally a following so fierce it would make Trump look like a fart in the wind. Not just from the lemmings either, but from sentient thinking men. Half of 4chan would go from neets who couldn't care less what happens to the world would become brothers in arms prepared to fight and die by his side in the name of good. For a true leader is not just a man, he is a beacon through which shines the hopes and dreams of his people.
