i guess we'll just have to wait and see. personally im very bullish on the future assuming we can get coronachan under control, the sooner the better. we have technology and the best minds around the world working hard on solving it. it makes me think a lot about Ozymandias in The Watchmen, where he created a monster meant to pose as an alien attack and more or less psychically nuked NYC, with the intention of giving humanity a common enemy to unite them, and it actually worked.
