There is so much fucking brain drain into this garbage. I studied traditional engineering and there was and is an unbelievable amount of seething from traditional engineers over the treatment the software guys get within the company. They get to work from home, a lot of us KNOW they don’t do jack shit most days, their software is ass most of the time, and a lot of the entry level kids make more than the senior trad engies. It’s unbelievable, but I personally know about half a dozen of my classmates that were really smart have learned to code and will never come back to the traditional engineering world.

I had hoped that the obscene salaries in software would cause other white collar professions to have to raise salaries to retain talent, but it just doesn’t happen. Boomers are content paying senior mechanical engineers $85,000 and wondering why they “can’t find any engineers that know what they’re doing these days”, the brain drain from every single white collar field into software has been a sight to behold. I remember at my old high school all the kids with the highest ACT scores would declare majors like electrical or mechanical engineering or pre med, now it’s basically all CS when I looked in the local newspaper in May during graduation.

How do I learn how to code and which languages pay the most? I need out of this blue collar shit, bros.
