Is insurance really worth it? It seems like I'm subsidizing deadbeats and retards, since I'm a prudent driver and I take good care of my things and myself.
Of course, life insurance is completely out of question and I only have a pension plan because it's tax-free.

Can't I just save the money and put it on a safe and liquid fund and take the loss whenever something bad happens? Why do I have to keep giving money to the insurance jew?

Hi, Finanon here. I remember seeing people discuss mining in Finland here a dozen threads back, on the topic of changes to Finnish mining legislation. Pan Man for example pondered the political risks that might be involved in the future. I've been searching for a while and I've come across a lot of interesting articles and documents. Without going into too much detail, here's the facts in a nutshell. Public sentiment on mining is mostly neutral but on the negative side due to a couple of mining-related debacles in the near past. The Finnish Association For Nature Conservation however states that they're not explicitly against mining and that they simply want ecologically sustainable mining. In 7/2019, a citizens' initiative to amend the mining legislation reached the Finnish Parliament's Committee on Finance. The initiative proposed major changes to the mining legislation, which the Committee rejected, although they made their own proposals.

Proposals include: a mining tax(!); adequate resourcing for licensing/permitting authorities and transparency regarding licensing; and clearer mining legislation to protect environment, housing and other industries.

Other notable Committee statements relate to: minimizing environmental impact; assessing the need to clarify legislation related to indigenous rights in the Mining act; strengthening the influence of locals & landowners and the role of municipalities in mining-related decision-making; and forbidding exploration in nature conservation areas

---

The mining law update proposal is still being processed, and currently it seems like the new law is being watered down. A draft of the new law by the Ministry of Employment and Economy that was proposed recently got a negative response from the Greens, according to whom the new draft violates the Government program on 4 different accounts. The Ministry promises to update the new law accordingly.

The new law will be presented to the Parliament in December.
