Yup. I think of it like paying protection money to the biggest gang on the planet . . . because that's exactly what it is.

Can you really put a price on freedom(tm)? I like to pick my battles.

https://blog.skycoin.net/statement/skycoin-distribution/

I know that's what the numbers look like on the surface (stopped me from buying in at $2 actually--bought in at $18), but the truth is actually the opposite. They have a better distribution plan than original BTC even.

same, I had checked it out in 2014 when it was like $1, but thought it was a bit too ambitious at the time. My money went up 30x and I got in skycoin under $20, but I'm sure as fuck staying in now, probably forever.

Holding skycoin lets you keep getting coin hours. coin hours can get spent anonymously (iirc).

no brainer.

I don't think they can stop it. Worst they could do is force skywire to isolate into separate networks that can only update every 24 hours VIA physically transmitted USB drives, or 1kbps shortwave uplinks. I suppose even those could be jammed, but encrypted spread frequency hopping is a thing so there would be an EW arms race if they tried and since we're on the assymettrical side we are guaranteed a stalemate, at worst.

Skywire will be far more resilient than bittorrent (oh yeah, it will also replace bittorrent and usenet), and we've all seen the attempts to stop torrenting over the last 15 years.
