Is there any reasonable priced silver left in Canada? I was looking at the major online retailers and even generic rounds were $8 over spot, and only like $1 or less difference between those and maples. Even 100 oz bars had huge premiums. I haven't bought any in a while so this was quite shocking.

Maxing out both your parents TFSAs are a far superior strategy than using the RRSP room. You can open a lot of different kinds of TFSA, it's not just a "savings" account.

I have 3 TFSAs, 2 are investment accounts with my broker TD. One is in Canadian dollars and one is in USD. You can have as many TFSA accounts as you want but your total contribution room is capped between them all.

If you can get them TFSAs for self-directed investing with whatever bank/brokerage they use, then you can invest their money into ETFs or whatever. There's tons of good boomer stocks and ETFs that are fairly low risk and pay dividends.
