It's probably the closest thing you can get to heaven on earth IF AND ONLY IF you don't have to work with any of the people living there and can live off of dollar denominated dividends or something. If you do have to work for a salary expect to work long hours for low wages, retarded and racist boomers, ass backwards bureaucracy and mentality. At least it's cheap as fuck and probably the safest country on earth.
If you want to invest into Japan consider that it's a shrinking and aging country. Anything related to health, elderly care and end-of-life services are probably a safe bet. You need a visa to get a permanent residency. Usually you need to live there for 10 years before you can apply but there is a scheme that is designed to be enticing for 'highly-skilled foreigners'.

It's basically a point based system where depending on your credentials you get scored and if you get at least 70 points you are granted preferential treatment, in which case you only need to live and work in Japan for 2 years before you can apply for permanent residency.
