Wouldn't that be totally stupid for them to not use the token? If they are going to be cutting costs for businesses don't they want to capitalize on a new potentially very lucrative profit stream of running nodes and getting small fees off smart contracts that need data, especially if smart contracts are the future and they need to make up for lost profits due to cost cutting. If Link got huge like it could if big institutions adopted it, they can be right at the center of it even in a peer to peer world that's decentralized. If they don't adopt the token system then they lose out big time.
