Tired of seeing people ask why we need tokens so here you go, the final answer, using Chainlink as an example.

The token system separates each service from the value of other services. The Chainlink token value will equalize at a point where it works for the service it provides while other tokens will equalize at their own unique value. It stabilizes the Chainlink economy since shitcoin XYZ doesn't affect the price of LINK like it would affect the price of ETH if they all used ETH.
Furthermore, there is a technical challenge to trying to remove tokens and have everything operate with ETH. You see, Chainlink is its own network, separate from Ethereum. Ethereum knows nothing of what happens on the Chainlink network and as such it would be a large technical task to make Ethereum aware of every single separate network that interfaces with it. How would Ethereum pay out the staking rewards for the hundreds/thousands of different networks like Chainlink? None of Chainlink's internal transactions happen on Ethereum or any other blockchain, Ethereum has no insight into Chainlink.

So either Ethereum has to be coded to interface with hundreds or thousands of external networks, one for every shitcoin to be aware of their transactions or we could just have each network be aware of itself. Vitalik and friends chose the second option for good reason, the first option is impossible to scale.

Thanks for reading, not stop asking this :)

Anyone else find it absolutely hilarious that us, a bunch of autists on a cambodian hentai image board are at the bleeding edge of the greatest transfer of wealth this decade?
I've been off and on 4chan since 2006 and just the way its changed my life, holy shit. It's developed my sense of humor and friend group, changed who I am really and now it's gonna make me a fucking multi-millionaire on LINK. 4chan/biz is the best thing to happen to me.

Lets get some /comfy/ posting up in here

Does it always cost the same amount of tokens to use the service? So the more people buy status, the more expensive it gets to use their instant messenger?
