I wouldn't say it's a bastion of free speech, as there are definitely too many rules about what you can and can't post (lots of political threads get deleted on pol) to be considered really free. It's still massively important though, especially to E/INTP and similar personality types as it allows them access to a superbrain that can fill in gaps of knowledge. I do lots of political and psychological research, but I was incredibly lacking in economic knowledge, since coming to biz I've filled in so many weak areas, it's very satisfying.
