This isn't necessarily true. If the velocity decreases drastically enough, PQ can remain constant. The money that remains out of circulation can show up as inflation in specific sectors, it can also remain out of circulation due to diminishing marginal utility. We might be able to see it in CPI which might be due to expectations (a lot is fluctuating due to shifts in supply and demand) and equities. It's hard to extract inflation in either, especially over such a short term, but with regard prices, we're going to see housing and auto prices go lower while CPI, commodities, and equities will likely go higher. Either way, it's not a constant, it can be broken into sectors, and the supply can easily increase while velocity decreases more drastically.
