I see some of your points. Silverbacks are a gimmick - just buy the art if you're that into it. Goldbacks are marginally better, but the markups are less absurd than silverbacks.
I've never seen dust, but can imagine handling it is a nuisance.
Nuggets though - I had never seen one before I bought one on a whim after the venerable PanMan suggested it (seeing as how I know I'll never be out there panning). Seeing that and handling that irl was a surprise. Even at only 9.5 grams, The natural beauty of it was intoxicating. I'm *very* thankful to have the sample, and I might buy another some day - of different configuration / structure.
Yeah - fractional is silly. I have to be able to see and understand it with the naked eye, and feel it in my hand.
Minted coins are my preferred, and never less than a quarter ozt. Full ounces if I can afford it.
