We will see what will happen, personally I can see gold being stable or up when the markets have a bad time, once the common joe realizes how fucked the economy is and the inflation in reality is sky high, than precious metals will get a gigantic demand from the common man.
In my country phyisical gold was sold out in late march to early April, you could only get numismatics and some coins and bars with ridicolous premiums, yet the people bought it anyways... stuff like 1g gold bars for 40% premium over spot.
