Yup. The high fees are definitely not cool. They also hinder STA's ability to generate volume in the pools because it costs so much to do a balance/arb trade. The release of Balancer v3 (soon) and ETH v2 (who knows) should dramatically reduce fees and unleash STA.

Statera is an arbitrage magnet for Liquidity Pools. You have a liquidity pool, you want to significantly increase the APY of that pool, you add Statera to it. That's literally it, there is nothing more or less to it than that. If you believe that Defi is here to stay, and if you believe that Liquidity Pools are here to stay, then you believe that Statera is going to moon.

I do some light arbing when the fees are low enough and aside from doing cross-platform arbs (Uniswap - Mooniswap) which is going to go the way of the Dodo soon with things like 1inch, Statera pools are by far the most profitable and I know I am not the only one to recognize that by seeing some of the swaps happening on Balancer.

The key is that Statera being present in the pool causes more re-balances. i.e. earning for poolers. For an example of this, see our very own Stanos pool with approx ~$750k liquidity. It's generating earnings much higher than pools with significantly larger liquidity.
