depends really, art is art but being too passionate can lead to perfectionism and hinder your output. my interest in art and animation is kept to a personal level currently, but speaking from experience in coding and developing (which i myself plan to turn into a 6 figure or 7 figure annual income) -the best anwser i can give is 'good enough', keep improving and re-evaluating where you want to be and what you want to be doing - good enough for me, as a developer, is being able to create a minimum viable product and create a service for others to use that grows.
as it grows, i grow too, both as a business owner and a developer. art and anything else that requires significant personal willpower and drive i imagine is similar. just start putting stuff out there even if you arent satisfied with your skill level yet, people love an underdog / ragstoriches, but only if he is going to do it with or without their help. and if youre truely motivated people will intuit that and be gravitated towards wanting to help you and work with you eventually
