Why aren't diamonds listed in the stock market the same way gold, silver, and oil are? "Because not all diamonds are equal". Okay fair enough. Why not list prices for the different grades of diamonds then? "Diamonds are worthless they only have value because people think they do". The same could be said for gold. Also if diamonds are allegedly so worthless why do pawn shops buy and sell them?

I'm curious as to how jewelers operate.do they actually own all the inventory,or is it typically purchased on credit?
