Fun fact: Torrenting is an integrated part of I2P! A lot of this can be found on clearnet but you get how this might be useful:

There exist Monero /xmr/ I2P outposts. Also the /xmr/ IRC is Tor only.

Continuing our little I2P torrent discussion, I just realized I can easily cross seed clearnet torrents, keeping the same hash, by simply symlinking the data and copy pasting the torrent.

Let's test:
Heroes of Might and Magic III (Complete Edition) + Patch [GOG]
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:dd48177a84474dd869212d9e8934cc894ecb3a4b

I think right now it's without trackers, and I would like to test if it finds peers with just DHT. If not, I'll add in the open trackers no problem. C'mon I want to see peers!

With Tor you have to trust directory authorities of which there are only a few.
Tor is first and foremost made to be a proxy to clearnet websites with hidden services being a secondary feature.
Tor is TCP only and doesn't work well with P2P filesharing type applications.
Tor uses a circuit based system. Circuits stick around and they kinda break so you need to hard refresh the page with a new circuit/identity or it won't load anything after a while.
The Tor relay I run contributes very little bandwidth. You don't have much stake in the network as a user. The network is actually quite permissionned if you want to run a relay node: Directory authorities will block you if you're "suspicious" and don't IRL identify yourself.
Tor Browser Bundle, Tails, and Whonix, not to mention Whonix on QubesOS means things are thought out throughout the whole stack. Provides a complete anonymity solution.

With I2P it's fully decentralized but that makes it more vulnerable to sybil attack. On the other hand every user is a node. That makes a lot more nodes than Tor.
I2P is first and foremost made for hidden services. You can use an outproxy to access clearnet (and Tor) but that's just a basic proxy.
I2P supports TCP and UDP and works much better with P2P filesharing type applications.
I2P's packet style routing is a lot more reliable in my experience.
There is no mature I2P browser or Whonix equivalent to take care of anonymity throughout the whole stack. On the flip side, there are other varied applications like Torrents and Mail but some of it gives abandonware vibes. It needs to be packaged better.
My i2pd node consistently contributes all the bandwidth I give to it. It really makes me feel like a part of the network.

Me, I would like to use both simultaneously to hedge my bets. They compliment each other well in that regard, covering each other's vulnerabilities and being a backup in case one has a problem. I wish Whonix properly supported I2P.
