So I now have ~30k invested into crypto. Feel like I should probably pull my shit off of coinbase. Should I just get a hot wallet such as metamask? Or should I grab a treznor or ledger or what hardware wallet? All my coins are long term holds.

Also potentially dumb question, but if i withdraw my coins to put them on said wallet, does that mean i pay taxes on them (american)? Pretty new to all of this.
