I left my backend swe job in colorado to work at Google Cloud in california for much higher pay. My god, i already want to go back. The management consists of incompetent AWS backstabbing hacks and barely literate indians and tons of contractors.

About half of my group has left since i have started about 2.5 years ago. We're literally treated like second class citizens here even at Google. No external google team wants to hire a google cloud employee making it hard to transfer.

We even have our own shitty campus that someone jumped out of. I cant help but feel ive been lied to. What hurts even more, the rest of google ie: everyone thats not Cloud gets to chill and work 30 hour weeks while we're working 80.

The problem is once you've worked in infrastructure, data, or networking you've effictevely pigeonholed yourself into a legacy tech job that is riddled with jeets. Ive heard AWS has the same problem. People look at you funny when you say your an "infrastructure engineer".
