They could, but the big dog shot callers in "The Collective West" won't let them do that. They (the west shot callers) appear to have decided on a broad European conflict. The reasoning behind the policy is anybody's guess. It is what it is. The interesting part is going to be the economic, rather than the hot war. If Russia, China, & the BRIC's are serious about taking on the hegemon, then they must already realize that their cause is unwinnable without taking down, or seriously degrading, the dollar reserve system. If every actor is now "all in" then how will that strategic necessity be approached? They literally have no chance of winning, or even stalemate, without a strategy to take a flammenwerfer to the worldbank/imf.
Of interest to this board is that crypto almost certainly has a role to play here. Although the outline of that role is still unclear. Speculation still focuses on "a basket of sovereign currencies" to replace the dollar trade function, however, a lot of economists consider that idea unworkable on a practical level (it is). That leaves some sort of purpose built CBDC, or ...??

exchanges (in any market) don't coordinate prices. The price differences are brought in line by arbitragers, who do it independently, for their own interest. Markets are a wonderful thing, Anon.
