Synthetic biology is kind of like Bitcoin in 2007 right now. Crispr is really gonna be the money king, so invest in companies pioneering that. Fact of the matter is CrispyTendies has the potential to be more influential sooner. Synthetic biology has MASSIVE implications, but the field is still so obscure it's hard to pinpoint what it's actually useful for.
Example for this, try finding a 'Synthetic biology textbook' or something.. it doesn't fucking exist. Way too new. It's just an offshoot right now of many fields.
Personally, I think synthetic biology when it matures will be used to:
Terraform planets by doing something like turning methane atmospheres or something into water and carbon nanotubes enzymatically.
Another approach could be seek and destroy heavy metals.
Or, just perform straight up simple shit in a cyborg sort of way, like creating a 'fake heart' or a 'mechano-kidney'
