Thanks, I appreciate the advice, but what I didn't mention is that I'm already almost 30 with basically just that 10 grand to my name. I've squandered a decade+ of asset accumulation sitting unemployed playing video games and (now that I'm planning a 5-year degree, regardless of its potential for a 6 figure wage) seriously risk entering middle age with almost nothing.

I kinda suspect that's the case.
I'm very wary of day trading, although my sister seems to have a lot of success (she has much higher startup capital though because she's not a fuckup like me).

I need to do more research before I commit to anything; that I didn't understand some of the terminology used here is evidence enough, but I'll take stock in that.
