Because the S&P 500 is tilted towards large cap growth companies. It's part of the paradigms of investing that swap back and forth

Larges vs Small
Growth vs Value
Domestic vs International

There will be long periods of time where one out performs the other before they swing back and forth. And for a multitude of psychological reasons one of the, the domestic large cap growth stocks, tends to under perform because investors tend to flock to them.

The problem is that the duration they can swing for is almost generational so you'll get a bunch of new investors that never saw anything but big large caps go up and so don't believe it.

this is 100% how it works, growth does great during good times and low interest rates hence people still buying shit like Tesla at 500 pe

but when interest rates hikes and downturns or recessions kick in, value, small, and reits win

>10 year crab was always my thesis. You guys gotta zoom out.
There has always been a decade long crab after a huge large cap bull wrong. This shit has been going in cycles for literal centuries.

It's the reason small cap and value end up out performing in the long run because they perform during both periods.
