Ripple is weird. It seems like it could be the next big thing. But it also seems like that's impossible. But if the banks try to create a new system with everyone locked out it won't work. There must be a public facing market for a settlement token to really settle things. Otherwise it's just spreadsheet that can't really transfer value. Because no one could buy a spot on it with government-fiat or gold or whatever. So....... I think ripple has a shot because no other scheme is gonna function better.
