My parents are Generation X (50+) and grew-up in a Western country during the Cold War. The issue with this time period is that the parents of my parents lived in the most rapid economic expansion in human history, localised to a select few countries not devastated by the Second World War. The effect of this on my parents was that they saw their own parent (my grandparents) accumulate massive wealth with little skill or education/training and pay very low taxes. My parents were encouraged to pursue passion in post-secondary and did exactly that. My parents failed to achieve the same wealth as their parents because they never understood hardship and were born with silver spoons. This is a symptom of life through exclusively good economic times.

I am old enough to have experienced the ramifications of 2008 and now the current clown market. I feel confident that I have experienced some economic hardship and this will make me stronger and wiser than my parents ever were (and so more similar to my grandparents that experienced the Second World hardship at a young age).
