If you use a hot wallet, use a password manager so the only thing your OS processes is copy and paste data, which is protected by keyloggers.
Write your phrase down, though. Never type it. Copy and pasting it might be a big of a chore and disregard any wallet that shows you your passphrase in total rather than word for word. Metamask still does this on mobile but not on desktop.

Just buy $100 ETH on a CEX and send it in. You won't get charged from CEX to DEX. Whatever you do afterwards will have a fee but at least you won't lose revenue buying the ETH to begin with.
