I think the play here is to get in on the ground floor of the multinational he was a part of before he retired. I don't want to go into too much context, but let's just say it is one of the largest corporations in the small country my family is from (I'm american). I recently got my dual citizenship to aforementioned country, so being a dual US/American citizen might be a huge asset for a sales, management, or consulting role. I have a CS degree from a state school but I've been in a tech sales role for the past two years since I graduated. Kind of a testimate to my work ethic that I'm still employed given the climate right now lol.

Also for context I know him quite well, our family (and extended family, both in the US and abroad) are incredibly close, many others in the family got their start (or their whole career) at said firm, so there's some precedent there too. I just didn't realize how influential he was in said corporation, or country for that matter.

I think that's the route I'm going to go; use aforementioned strategy as a jumping-off point, and then get closer with him that way when I'm ready to go out on my own.

As a man in his mid to late 20s, I have kind of given up on the notion of trying because the state of humanity is looking grim and a good chunk of the populace most likely won't survive into the future.

My parents have seen 700k+ in added equity on their home over the past few years and are considering cashing out a portion of that equity (50k or so) to contribute to a down payment on a house for myself (I am also contributing roughly 50k).

Financially speaking, is this a good idea? I fully trust them and they want to see me get into a home at the same age they did (26, so next year). They're acutely aware of how unaffordable homes are now, they see it as a way to preserve the generational wealth they've created. What do you all think and what should I know going into this?
