Eh depends on your luck and will to learn. I did 10 years in the industry starting at data analysis and working up modelling ,prepping data, etc., even consulting and at some point managed very bright people from top world universities and didn't even finish my econ degree in my 2nd world country. You need a strong will and luck but right now the world is incredibly data hungry. I'm glad I'm out of the industry though as it was exhausting especially when lacking the deep statistics and playing catch-up.
