That's definitely a cool coin, but close-up it appears a bit rougher than I expected, perhaps it was lost in a salty environment and developed some pitting over the centuries. With your fresh pics I change my mind and think it should be sold if you can get lots of shekels for it.

>Minimalist design, but big value : Double Sol crowned with two L, Louis XV, 1744.

This is an awesome coin, looks more like a weak strike than circulation wear was responsible for the softness of the rim in front of the big "L", the grubby crusty spots will clean up easily too. I have a few French billon coins similar to this that circulated here in North America, they all got worn to shit so the original mint luster on yours is really impressive, let's see the other side! If I were you I'd keep this one for the collection, it's a great exemplar and the .208 silver billon alloy (according to Numista) is pretty unique too.

Awesome coins frogbro, those would be wonderful numismatics to collect. Modern "limited mintage" contrived scarcity gimmicks are nothing but bait for plebwits, nothing like your foray into real history and rarity. You save lots of money by stacking cheapies, so treating oneself to fairly priced or preferably below-market deals on numismatics is a sensible way to round-out the stack/collection. Regarding your concern, besides the normal variance in the weight of planchets until the industrial revolution's improved production techniques made coins more uniform, at least one of them looks like it took a trip to the synagogue and got circumcised, if I'm right the clipping isn't too severe though. Plenty of unclipped medieval coins are lightweight because of circulation of course, since they were often so thin (high surface area to weight ratio versus moderns) normal handling would remove a greater percentage of the weight. Also, they were all dug up and surely suffered some degree of loss from chemicals in the soil/water. The lighter weight is truly nothing to worry about with any of those coins, they are all absolutely genuine my fren.

Anyone here have an 1892 Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek 5 Shillings/Crown? It appears that less than 20k were ever minted, if it were a Morgan Dollar with such a low mintage it would cost a fortune but thankfully it's affordable.

>Where do I acquire fat copper X’s? My lust for Krugers and disdain for nigs no longer satiates me.

They're copper "Katangas" from that region of the Congo. Search "katanga cross" periodically on eBay for ones up for auction, you should be able to find one under $120 if you're patient. I bought 3 of them along with some interesting artifacts for just $110 shipped because the seller didn't know what they were, I kept that biggest and best one, gave my dad the next one and sold the shittiest one for $140.

>boomers would rather buy a $200+ ultra cameo PF68 Franklin half in a gay plastic slab than they would spend $30-$40 on it in the original government packaged cellophane set and get the other proof coins along with it

Yeah it's retarded man, I hate the soulless speculator new-money types that slabbed coins have attracted to what used to be a much comfier autist's hobby. Sadly CCG and Vidya collectors suffer similarly, it sucks.

Based and neckbeard-pilled, I think it's really cool how the smaller old krugs have nothing but the bust on the obverse. Are you gonna build a full denomination set too?
