CALMLY approach her and say "look, i'm sorry i hid this from you. i'm just working toward my goals which are: {xyz} and i felt like i needed to keep this to myself because: [your reasons]"

THEN you need to say something like
"i'm willing to share with you but a bag is a little frivolous. maybe we can buy ourselves some college courses, or something to improve your/our home, something practical to improve our quality of life."
